Statement of faith

The Foundation is a nondenominational, Christian school that seeks to prepare students for society with a Biblical worldview. We strive to assist each student to grow in excellence spiritually, academically, socially and physically (Luke 2:52).

1. We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testament, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.Psalms 89:34, John 10:35, 2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 6:18, 2 Peter 1:21.
2. We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Ephesians 2:18, Hebrews 1:1-3.
3. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He now is our High Priest and Advocate. Isaiah 53, Acts 17:31, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Titus 2:14, Hebrews 2:9, 9:12-28, 10:10-13, 1 Peter 2:24, 1 John 3:5.
4. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men of sin and regenerate the sinner who repents and believe. The Holy Spirit indwells, baptizes, fills, comforts, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer for godly living and service. John 14:26, 16:8, Acts 1:8, Romans 8:11, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 1:13.
5. We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. Genesis 1:27, John 3:5, Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:13-14, Titus 3:5.
6. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God. John 1:12, Ephesians 2:8-9, Colossians 2:13, Titus 3:5, 1 John 5:1.
7. We believe that water baptism by full immersion and the Lord’s supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. They are not, however, to be regarded as a means of salvation. Acts 2:38, 10:47, Romans 6:3-4, 1 Corinthians 11:26.
8. We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Together they form the body of Christ of which He is Head. Children are sanctified in their believing parent(s). 1 Corinthians 3:11-17, 7:14, 12:27, Ephesians 1:22, Colossians 1:18.
9. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs. Ephesians 4:4-7, 11-13, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:7-9.
10. We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this ‘blessed hope’ has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. Luke 21:36, Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:16, Titus 2:13, Revelation 22:20.
11. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment. Daniel 12:2, Matthew 25:46, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 20:13-15.
12. We believe that marriage is a covenant relationship between one man by birth and one women by birth and that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a women who are married to each other.
Genesis 2:18-25, 1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2-5, Hebrews 13:4.
13. We believe that Jesus’ work of redemption did provide us with blessings for spirit, soul and body. Matthew 8:16-17, Luke 4:18, John 10:10, Romans 1:16, 1 Peter 2:24.
14. We believe that all authority, also on school, comes from God and that every human being has to submit to the authority God has appointed over him.Romans 13:1-2, Titus 2:15, 3:1-2.

Doctrinal clarification: All parents/custodians enrolling their child(ren) on The Foundation Private International Christian School should realize that in doctrine and philosophy we are Christian. Our affiliation and emphasis are Bible-based. We reject manifestations attributed to the Holy Spirit that are not found in the Bible, like ‘soaking’, falling in the spirit etc. Judaic Christianity, in other words returning to Hebrew roots, we consider to be an error (Galatians 3-4, Hebrews 8-10, Colossians 2:16-17). We believe every day is alike (Rom.14:5). We soberly celebrate the Christian feasts. To keep the unity of the school, we use the New King James Version and the Herziene Statenvertaling (Dutch) of the Bible. We seek to maintain a loving and warm attitude towards all people.
